2.0       Right to access, correct and delete data and to object to data processing

Our members have the right to access, correct and delete personal data relating to them, and to object to the processing of such data, by addressing a written request, at any time. The United Party of Canada makes every effort to put in place suitable precautions to safeguard the security and privacy of personal data, and to prevent it from being altered, corrupted, destroyed or accessed by unauthorized third parties. However, the Party does not control each and every risk related to the use of the Internet, and therefore warns the Site users of the potential risks involved in the functioning and use of the Internet. The Site may include links to other web sites or other internet sources. As the party cannot control these web sites and external sources, the party cannot be held responsible for the provision or display of these web sites and external sources, and may not be held liable for the content, advertising, products, services or any other material available on or from these web sites or external sources. 3.0       Management of personal data

You can view or edit your personal data online for many of our services. You can also make choices about our collection and use of your data. How you can access or control your personal data will depend on which services you use. You can choose whether you wish to receive communications from our us by email, SMS, physical mail, and telephone. If you receive email or SMS messages from us and would like to opt out, you can do so by following the directions in that message. You can also make choices about the receipt of email, telephone calls, and postal mail by visiting and signing into Party Communications Manager, which allows you to update contact information, manage contact preferences, opt out of email subscriptions, and choose whether to share your contact information with our partners. These choices do not apply to mandatory service communications that are part of certain services.

3.1    The issue privacy is becoming ever-more important, good privacy practices are good for business. The following is a guide as to the collection and protection of members’ personal information and comply with the federal law.

  • The Party obtains members’ consent to collect their personal information and limit the collection and retention of it.
  • The Party ensures staff receives appropriate privacy protection training.
  • The party limits and monitors access to personal information and take appropriate action when an officer or employee accesses information without authorization.
  • The Party is careful in collecting sensitive personal information, such as driver’s licenses.
  • The Party will post notice if we are using video surveillance.
  • The Party privacy policy will be posted on our website relating to the collection and use of personal information.
  • The Party will protect personal information on laptops, USB keys and portable hard drives through technological safeguards such as password protection.
  • The Party will respond to requests for access to personal information in a timely manner.
  • The Party will safeguard personal information against privacy breaches and report breaches that could result in significant harm to an individual.

4.0       Information We Collect

Our website collects data to operate effectively and provide you the best experiences with our services. You provide some of this data directly, such as when you create a personal account. The data we collect depends on the services and features you use.

5.0       How We Use Your Information

Our website uses the data we collect for three basic purposes: to operate our party and provide (including improving and personalizing) the services we offer, to send communications. All The Unity Party of Canada employees, who collect, maintain and/or use personal information, are responsible for insuring that the collection, use and disclosure of this information is carried out in accordance with this policy and relevant procedures.

The Corporate Secretariat is the department responsible for supervising compliance with the legislation and for initiating procedures, guidelines and schedules that will be developed to effect this policy.

The Privacy Coordinator is accountable for The United Party of Canada’s policies and practices, with respect to the management of personal information, and is the individual to whom complaints and inquiries can be forwarded.
